
Calendar of Events
In addition to our exhibitions, the Schulz Museum provides a wide variety of programs and presentations throughout the year, giving our visitors opportunities to: meet professional cartoonists; view some of Schulz's favorite movies in our 100-seat theatre; make hands-on crafts and learn about different cartooning techniques; and attend Members-Only parties. Our Special Group Programs provide visitors with even more hands-on opportunities.
Each visit to the Schulz Museum is a unique experience!

Cartoonist–in–Residence
Every second Saturday the Schulz Museum hosts a new Cartoonist-in-Residence! Berkeley–born cartoonist and illustrator Briana Miller has been cartooning since 2000. She has done many mini–comics, including Walk Like Tall Birds, Over and Over, and Simple. Most recently she has produced a prequel to Simple, called Still. In addition to comics, Briana creates hand–silkscreened shirts, posters, and postcards. |

Home School Day: Beethoven and Schulz—Making Music Together
Experience Beethoven’s music through a live piano recital and learn about his art and life through a tour of our feature exhibition, Schulz’s Beethoven: Schroeder’s Muse, a feature film, and several fun, hands-on activities. Also learn cartooning with professional cartoonist Bill Holbrook, creator of Kevin & Kell.

Beethoven Recital
In this special recital, the Felix String Quartet will perform Beethoven’s Quartet in C minor, Opus 18, No. 4. This amateur quartet is comprised of Sonoma County locals Diane Peterson (reporter for the Press Democrat); John Thompson (web site developer); Michael Fecskes (music student at Sonoma State University); and Steve Osborn (medical writer). |

NEW EXHIBIT | To the Moon: Snoopy Soars with NASA
To the Moon: Snoopy Soars with NASA looks at the history of Apollo 10 and the Peanuts characters’ role in that flight and in the NASA Manned Flight Awareness safety program. It will feature a one–third scale model of the Apollo command module from the Johnson Space Center, an Apollo–era flight suit, the actual image of Charlie Brown that was flown aboard Apollo 10, and a special children’s area for creative play.

Meet astronauts Lieutenant General Thomas Stafford and Captain Eugene Cernan and other members of the Apollo 10 mission.
General Stafford was the commander of the Apollo
10 mission. He has flown over 127 different types of aircraft and
helicopters and four different types of spacecraft, logged over 507
hours in space flight during six missions, and wears the Air Force Command Pilot Astronaut Wings.
Captain Cernan was a
crew member and the pilot
of the lunar module on the
Apollo 10 mission. He is
distinguished as the last man to leave his footprints
on the moon in December of 1972. |

Save the date to celebrate the opening of our newest exhibition, To the Moon: Snoopy Soars with NASA, with special guest speakers, Apollo 10 astronauts Lieutenant General Thomas Stafford and Captain Eugene Cernan. Also at the reception will be three of the Apollo 10 support personnel: helicopter pilot Captain Chuck Smiley; primary recovery swimmer Wes Chesser; and NASA secretary Jamye Flowers Coplin. Laughter is the best medicine…and Schulz
made sure his readers had plenty of it!
He elicited chuckles and guffaws as he
explored many maladies and conditions,
including lazy eyes, broken limbs, tennis elbows, nervous
stomachs, physical fitness, good mental hygiene, and preventive
medicine. Laugh your troubles away in Laughter Is the Best Medicine, featuring 70 original Peanuts strips and some unique memorabilia. |

Cartoonist–in–Residence
Every second Saturday the Schulz Museum hosts a new Cartoonist-in-Residence! Meet, watch, and talk to Jimmy Gownley, creator of the graphic novel series for kids, Amelia Rules! A five-time Eisner Award Nominee and two-time Harvey Award Nominee, Jimmy published his first book of comics when he was 15. Jimmy is also the co-founder of Kids Love Comics, whose goal is to get kids reading through comics. |

Home School Day: To the Moon Snoopy!
Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 10 and 11 missions with a special tour of the Museum’s To the Moon: Snoopy Soars with NASA exhibition. Make and launch your own stomp rockets, create a star clock to take home, and build a lunar lander to deliver Snoopy safely to “the moon.” Also do some out of this world cartooning with professional cartoonist, Jimmy Gownley, creator of the Amelia Rules! graphic novel series for kids.

Hear from Judy Sladky about her experiences with the Apollo astronauts and flying in Zero Gravity. Judy will also show a video of Snoopy and his Zero Gravity experience. Judy is a former ice skater and dancer who has performed in many of the Redwood Empire Ice Arena ice skating shows. |
